If you have a friend in the auto body, repair, or towing business, ask if they would be willing to conduct a mechanic's lien for you. They should know how the process works in their own state.
Titling vehicles with lost paperwork has become more difficult, as totaled cars from flooded areas, etc. are being shipped to different parts of the country, cleaned, and washed of their salvage titles. The state here is really cracking down on this fraudulent business, and therefore, makes it harder for the legit people.

Did you get this figured out?
M230-xxxxxx is the engine number! Back in 1959, some states registered cars by engine number, others by body number.

Everyone,
Just a post to say I never made it back to Motor vehicles to correct my title.
Could it indeed be the motor number? If so - too late now, the 6 cylinder was pulled back in 1996!
By any chance - is the original motor number listed on the build sheet?
Thanks to All.
