Universal Coupler
Does anybody know where I might be able to get a Universal Coupler for a power steering gear box?

Re: Universal Coupler
Coupler for the high pressure side of the pump hose going to the steering box.
Just trying to figure out what part you are looking for... Do you have a picture of the old part and where it goes?

Andy - Unless someone has changed the power steering box in your car the 59's do not use a "rag joint" or universal joint. The 59's have a slotted (male/female) joint just above the steering box but inside the steering shaft cover down at the bottom, that joint has a rubber insulator sleeve that fits in the slot with a pin that holds it together. Your parts book should show the setup, that is, if you have one.
It's a real pain to get to it. First you have to take off the steering wheel and all the horn stuff to get the shaft out, next you have to loosen the collar down at the steering box so you can slide the steering shaft cover up and off the steering shaft. You have to disconnect the electric connections that go into that cover. Make sure you keep track of the black horn wire as it is seperate. Remove the pin and replace the rubber insulator. Oh and then there is a rubber boot that fits onto the cover with a brass ground strap in it. You can get those parts from Gary Goers in Kallispeil, Montana. Click on the thread below

Thanks Dick, I'm gonna look online for a parts book, that will be very helpful. I also need info on the differential, mine needs a new bearing and or a rebuild.Dick Koch wrote:Andy - Unless someone has changed the power steering box in your car the 59's do not use a "rag joint" or universal joint.
