59 Plymouths Sweep Mopar Meet June 1, 2014 & August 9, 2014

Post by Denver 59 Fin Convert »

Kinda late reporting this...I attended the Denver Biggest Mopar meet on June 1st and to my surprise (truly..) I came in first place. Shocked the heck out of me.

It was the Mopar Action Mega Mopar meet at Bandimere speedway, 350 Mopars there but only 14 in the vintage class of 1950- 1962, Tom Amberg who bought the Black SF from Linda ("Linda's 59" fame a year ago came in second place. So we kind swept that day with 59 Plymouths!

Then today we attended our Clubs Mopar show, 130 cars in attendance, But only Tom and I attended in the Forward Look class again, Last year there was 10 cars, well the same results happened, I took first place and Tom took second place in a 2 car field. Oh well....

Congrats on the awards at the Mopar Meet. The Belvedere convertible is drop dead gorgeous and the Fury equally as well. Don't knock taking first place and Tom's second place in a 2 car field. These cars would have won most local and regional shows in the Northeast.

Thanks all! I get a kick showing the Swivel seats and talking about the 59 Plymouths finer points to those who admire them at these shows. But they always part us Forward Look drivers at the edge of Car Show area. It is amazing that anyone one would walk the extra distance to see what we have.

Tom Amberg lives about 10 mins from me so it is not unusual that we are seen in our Home town here cruising around.

It looks like there were some very nice Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouths from the late Forties and the early Fifties represented as well. I was out in Denver Colorado in September 2013 for several days. Great place for these Mopar shows.

Hey John Q

I do believe the Plymouth is a late 49 P18.

Tom you are right! (as usual!) My Dad, who attended the show with me, agree's with you it is 1949 not a 47 as I had called out. I will make the correction, if I can on the picture caption to reflect that it is a 1949. :o

Thanks for pointing it out to me.

There was a bunch of Modern LX and LC platform cars (4 door Chargers/Chrysler 300's & New Challengers) that seem to make up a lot of the show field at these shows.

We did get 2 1970 Plymouth Superbirds and One 1969 Dodge Daytona at the show. Rare to see any of these Winged car at any car show and we had 3 of them. Here are some pics of the Superbirds, I did not get a pic of the Daytona for some reason...I know the guy who owns it and must have taken pics of his cars before at another car show but did not this time.

John Q. - Just so you will know in the future I've attached is a picture of a 1947 Plymouth. (The picture is small,I haven't fiqured out how to make it larger) Sitting on the front of it looking cool is a 19 year old skinny good looking guy. Gee, I wonder who that is. I went to a Mopar show a couple of years ago in Melbourne, FL. and there were, I kid you not, eight Super Birds and Daytonas. What a sight.

I fixed it for you, Dick... I'll refrain, though, from making any "now and then" comments.

Thanks Dan - I wish I new how to make the picture larger. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then and now but the main difference is that today I have a mustache. And by the way, you are right I would never trade my wife Yvonne for a car unless of course, did I hear the name Christine, no Yvonne and Charleen would never let it happen.

Dick, Neat picture of you back in the Day...Still suave then as you are today! :P Love the socks you wore back then!

Was the world black and white back then? I think it was 1969 that color was invented in the world!
