Back light - rechroming

Post by Guy »

I'm sure someone out there has had their rear lights rechromed.

I have taken the units off the car but I am struggling with taking the
actual bulb holders out. They look as if they are pressed in place and are
not intended to be removed.

Anybody got any suggestions ??

Thanks

the bulb sockets are pressed into place at the factory. A person CAN slowly pick at the flange and eventually remove them, but then you will have to reverse the procedure, with less than satisfactory results.
Why not just throw them out, saving the plugs for the replacement sockets of course. For replacement sockets, I used the springy-fingered ones available at any auto parts store.

Many thanks for the reply. I agree replacing the bulb holders will be the
easiest solution.
I've put the units back on the car for this year - Hopefully the better weather is just around the corner and I need to be ready to roll.

I'll save the rechroming for later in the year.
