Horns
Horns
Gentlemen, Steve here again with another question: Where are our horns supposed to be located on our vehicles? Mine is the 2 door sedan(post).. I know the 58's and 57's had them in the grill. Mine are mounted on the passenger side front of the engine compartment, is this correct?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Interested to see the replies on this one. My Fury had the horns mounted the same as yours, passenger side engine bay. I put it down to the fact it had an aftermarket air con fitted and the rad/exchanger had been mounted in front of the radiator (now removed). I've seen pictures in the forum with horns mounted in front as you suggest and am now in the process of modifying the brackets to fit accordingly. Now wondering if I've done right ? Guy

Re: Horns
Steve; Mine had AC,I have A 4dr sdn. one was on the engine side of the radiator core support(passenger side of car) the other driver side was on the grill side.however the car was missing the driver side horn when I got it and am kind of going through what you are now.I know they had different angle brackets, and HI and LO note horn tone.I havn't seen A good pic of the mount, but they go to the 2 angular holes inside of the oval holes on either side of the radiator on the core support, you need the brackets with the proper angle. Re: Horns
Maybe I can help, the non AC cars had the horns mounted in between the radiator and the grill, there are mounting holes in the radiator support for the brackets one horn on the left and one horn on the right. The cars with AC had the horns (both) mounted in the engine bay on the radiator support on the passenger side. There was a single bracket for both horn. I have a AC car but no bracket, If anyone has an AC horn bracket I will trade the brackets I have for it.

Re: Horns
Steve,
Front mounted holes on core support either side of radiator. Two holes to left of the slot on right. Two holes next to circle on left. For front mount horns. Mark M.

Re: Horns
When I decided to add factory a/c to my car, I had what I thought was the complete set-up shipped to me in Seattle from Idaho. I put the items on a shelf and didnt get to installing them for maybe a year? It was only then that I realised I didn't get the single bracket which secured both horns to the core support passenger side. Of course by then the donor car had been crushed!
I was lucky to have been able to borrow the correct bracket from ForwardLook Frank (who used to be on this site), and I had the part duplicated. And now we have a Listmember willing totrade his bracket for a non-a/c bracket!
The donor car had a 318, and my car was a 361, so I discovered I had to source a triiple-groove crank pulley, idler pulley, and assorted other brackets. A major headache!

Re: Horns
Mark - I can't see the bracket at all in your pictures, remember on the AC car both horns are mounted on one bracket inside the radiator mount on the passenger side, please send better pictures. Are you willing to trade, if so, I will need your address. Mine is Richard Koch, 4951 S. Kay St., Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. 33418.
