carlisle 2011

Post by rogerh »

I don't know who took those pictures, the group of which Ron explained to me they've been posted. Thanks very much! When I saw the photo of the '63 wagon, I flinched. I know of one locally for sale...needing everything, but the production # of '63 wagons is very low ( 2x '59 SF)
Not feeling quite like a member of the "A" team anymore, I sense I am not privy to the most recent and exciting happenings with fellow members :(
I am sure it is challenging to run a website which appeals to all...newbies and buddybuddies alike.
I occasionally try to catch up on the trends by reading thru the Chat Archives, (which isnt easy!)
I learned from Matthew that he has a "line" on a complete convertible top mechanism! I think this is awesome news, and I hope he posts his findings for all to read.
It is unfortunate this site is only receiving contributions from five or six tightly-knit members. I wish it could somehow attract more of the silent majority........

Roger,

The pictures were taken by Dan (a lot) and 2 were taken by Megan (Jim Rawa"s gf). matthew posted some of his pictures on the forum a few weeks ago.
I still consider you a member of the A-team, you may not have a car now but you still have a 59 Plymouth heart! And you are not the only one having a hard time reading the chat archive. Matthew made a deal on the convertible top and he will have it tomorrow :D

I would love to have more active members but I know that there are a lot of members who read everything without posting their stories. I know for example that Ed Ober checks in every day but he never posts.

Matthew and I were asking a lot of 59 plymouth People and Forward Look people on spare convert parts at Carlisle. We did in fact , in a follow up post Carlisle email, to one of the 59 guys, and managed to score the parts needed for Matthew's convert car. Both sides! So Matthew is very pleased that he has located the original parts.

I could not find a shop here in Denver to do the complex bends needed for these parts. They all thougth they would ruin the flat stock I had cut out of 1/4 inch steel. So the push was on to find a parts top to scavage and we did.

When and if Matthew ever leaves the US to go back home, (some doubt he will ever leave....) he will have what he needs to make the top go up and down correctly. he will remember to lubricate it for that cold Dutch weather it now lives in.

thanks for the update. When I met Matthew a few years back, he was reluctant to converse in English. Obviously he has gotten a LOT more confident, and obviously his rabid interest in 59 P is in full force. I am pleased for him.
