Nat. Geo Channel on Dodge factory

Did anybody catch the season premiere of Ultimate Factories,
showcasing the assembly of the 2011 Challenger? I missed it by one hour, but I have my timer set to record the next airing Feb 10.

I missed it as well. It sounds like a really neat show.

However I did catch a late-night show all about Desert Valley Auto Parts - Did anyone see that show? They restored about a 1965 T-bird and got skunked - too much $$$ into the restoration - car sold for about $1500 less I believe?

Does anyone know the name / channel and time of the show?
I believe it was one of the history channels.

You are speaking of Desert Car Kings, on Discovery Channel, featuring DVAP in at least one episode (maybe all?). It's along the lines of Pawn Stars and all those copycat shows. I haven't watched it. The show has been discussed on FL site.

I felt the same way - although I thought it was far below the videography of Pawn Stars (I am a Big Fan of American Pickers and Pawn Stars along with Storage Wars). The DVAP show was doe with far less $$$s than the others mentioned above.

It seems to me I bought some parts from DVAP many years ago.

Well Sponge Bob and FishTales are on now - better get back to watching TV with Grace!!!

Now You know why I stay up until 1AM or 2AM just to get my TV fix.

I just saw American Pickers for the first time this week, they were in Upstate NY going thru old barns. I like Cash and Cari too. She comes across some good deals on family estate auctions that never see Ebay or Craigs list.

I did watch this show......I don't know if any of you were looking for a report:
It is just amazing and fascinating to see the automation that is being used these days!

The Challenger body gets assembled in Hampton, Ontario, while the Hemi is created in Mexico.
From the huge stamping machines, to all the robotic assembly...just awesome to see. Having seen the vintage footage of the '59s being built, it was fun to make comparisons betweeen Then and Now.

I caught the show too! It is totally different many phases of assembly that did not exist when I worked for Chrysler in the 70's and 80's. The stampling plants were always seperate from the assembly plants, now they are intergal. I know the Canadian Camaro plant does the same. Must be a current trend for new plants.

One of the last thing my father did before retiring was to help layout the stamping part of the plant. He never mentioned that it was part of the Brampton assembly Plant, ONT. The plant also makes Chrysler 300C's and Chargers there too!

One thing of note, is that I knew that the Hemi's were assembled in Mexico but they show them arriving at the plant in Semi Trucks with the bare un-machined blocks, Is the foundry for the Hemi block also in Mexico? If so, there must be another plant that does the casting of them. (the 426 Hemi block of the old days was cast and made at Chrysler Marine division in Marysville, MI , north of Detroit)

Does anyone one know where the foundry is for the casting of the Block?
