Roger, I really appreciate (so do other members) the heads up on it. I did in fact tell them in an email that if the deal falls thru, I am there with the cash-in-flash for it.

I got my eye on a Red SF convert I hear about it the Netherlands.....Too late for that one! :o

I've heard there was a really rough convertible up near Angel's camp for years, through the owner of San Andreas body shop, who is a friend of mine. He had been given the option to buy the car about five years ago, but something fell through. Then, while at Reno's Hot August Nights swap meet, where I have been a vendor for years, a young fellow in his mid twenties was looking at my picture board, and he said he would trade his Belvedere convertible for my '39 Studebaker. He siad he was near Angels Camp, so it was probably the same car.

I never did hear from him again, but this was probably the same car. It was supposedly extremely rough, but I never did see it.

Strange thing is, there is currently a '59 Sport Fury convertible listed on Craigslist for $4500 in the Atlanta area with pics. Not sure how to post it here, maybe someone with better 'puter skills can do this.

If you go back to the beginning of your thread "Getting a start on the convertible", BWINC posted some pics of a black cvt....isn't that the exact same one now on Ebay?

I will call Thursday on this one and report to all any information I can gather on it. Looks pretty bad, Sheet metal wise it needs a donor car for replacement steel. It does not look like it has the folding top assembly.
Looks to be around a 1500 to 2K car with out a top and as bad a rust as it shows.

Might be interesting, if just for informational purposes. BWINC knows about this car, as he sent some pics to JF last year or so. I can't see anyone buying this scrap. We all agree they broke the mold when they made John Fowlie. Besides him, NOBODY would go to such lengths to restore this heap, esp. knowing how impossible it is to find convertible-only pieces, etc. The only salvageable stuff I see is the stainless and the glass, and even there it appears to be missing the driver's door vent frame+glass.
