59 Brake return springs!

Post by EddieRiff »

I need brake return springs for my 59 Belvy. I have completely restored the car, and after sending my brake shoes out to be resurfaced, somehow one of the springs didn't fit. My brother tried to flex the spring a little, and the hooked end snapped off. I got a new spring from a scrap yard, that came off a 60 plymouth, and after the brakes kept locking up i looked and found that the spring had 6 coils, and had come off of a 15 inch rim. So now I can't drive the car at all. If anyone has brake return springs for the 14 inch rims, I could really use them. let me know.

Eddie,

Welcome to the board! Please register and join. And send me pix to put in the showcase! We could use more Belvederes.

Try giving Frank Todd a call:

Or, if you have a part number (I could look it up, and will if you don't have it, but I'm feeling lazy at the moment), try entering it on Valley Vintage's website, in their online catalog:

http://vvap.com

They have a good inventory.

Good luck, hope to hear more from you!

cant drive your Plymouth..I know that feeling..my car sits forlornly inthe garage of our now vacant house...I havent been able to make room for it at our new place, and now the rainy season seems to have started..yeh, a little rain doesnt "hurt" our cars, but my convertible does have a leak at the header bar (w/strip problem). I should be in the garage now, moving boxes, making room to "bring her home". I will look for some springs for you..where do you live?

Did you find any? I think I have some left that came off the front of mine.

Hi Eddie,

I know a guy in the US who helped several friends of mine with brake parts. I can give you his e-mail address if you contact me at rkeij@chello.nl or just register to this forum and send me a PM.
I will not put other peoples e-mail addresses on a public forum.
