Re: Tapered Axle Rear Brake Conversion
I started to convert over to the 2-1/2" wide rear drums and a 1965 or newer rear axle. After much consternation, I decided to rebuild my original setup with the 11" x 2" wide drums with new brake shoes. Yes this original setup is more difficult to remove the rear drum assembly and you...

Re: replacement '59 headlight switch
You did the right thing regarding emery cloth and cleaning the rheostat portion of the headlight switch. Over the years that copper wire rheostat corrodes and gets a white material on it and prevents current going to your dash lights. (I have had that happen on my other MOPARS ) At the moment I don'...

Re: Instrument Lights
Dick Koch, it was good to hear from you and good to know your are not pushing up daisy's. I have learned a lot from you over the years and when your gone I don't know what Dan's web site will do. You have a few more years on me but I am not far behind you. The older I get the more I procrastinate be...

Instrument Lights
I need to change out the three instrument lights at the top (backside) of my instrument panel. One bulb is in the center top and the other two are at the extreme ends of the panel between each side and the left/right turn signal bulbs. I can get my hand on the center unit and install a new LED (#57)...

Re: Ride height
Thanks Dick for the information. I did not realize the springs could be purchased separately for existing shocks. I had already purchased the combination spring/shock and had them on the shelf for many months before I decided to install them along with my new leaf springs. My first task is to see if...

Re: Ride height
You are correct, Eaton Springs supplies different size leaf springs. I ordered the original springs for my application and it did raise my car up to original height. (My old springs were sagged over the years) Eaton Springs can form (bend) the rounded ends of their springs up in 1" increments a...

Re: Coiled Helper Spring Shocks
I recently installed new rear leaf springs and also new coiled helper spring shocks on my 59 Sport Fury. I am pleased with the results but have come across an article regarding Coiled Helper Spring Shock absorbers that I think Fury owners that have rear coil helper spring shocks should be aware of. ...

Re: recast steering wheels - new owner
A new owner has now taken over D&D Automobilia for recasting steering wheels. (This is the 3rd time the business has been sold) D & D Automobilia was started by Don & Donna Eash, of Mt Airey, N.C. and ran the business until 2017. The new company retaining the same name (D&D Automobil...

Re: Tapered Axle Rear Brake Conversion
I read with much interest the Tapered Axle Rear Brake Conversion suggested by Dick Koch back in 2018. Once the conversion is done, any future rear brake jobs become much easier to do. Dick Koch, over the years has become an expert on 59 Sport Furies and has contributed much to this web site for the ...

Re: Ride height
I just finished installing new rear leaf springs on my Sport Fury. Purchased springs from Eaton Springs in Detroit. After installing, my Fury was at a much better stanch height. (Old springs were bent downward on the ends and I could see daylight between some of the leafs - none were broken) A while...

Re: Complete sport Fury Steering Wheel Assy
Yes I still have the wheel wrapped up in a box in my spare parts. I am thinking $1650 + shipping and that includes the wheel, the two chrome inserts in the pistol grips, the chrome horn ring, center pad assembly and "PLYMOUTH" chromed center bar that sets in the horn pad. Where are you loc...

Re: She leaks me... she leaks me not
I happened to have to pull my starter and like Faulkner said, the exhaust pipe blocks clear access to two of the three starter bolts. I did manage to get starter bolts out with a lot of tedious wrenching and turning with my finger tips. One of the bolts backs out hitting the exhaust pipe. That bolt ...

Re: GAS FILL TUBE BLOW BACK
I cannot solve the problem of lost gas in the filling process, but have a solution to any gas running out of the filling tube during a fill up. Bob Hinds (Previous Owner of my car) utilized a funnel with a hole cut in the side of funnel near the top. (See attached photos) Hole should be larger than ...

Dual master cylinder with drum brakes
I have just purchased off Ebay, a Kelsy Hayes C-57 Bellows Style Brake Booster. I plan to send it off for rebuild and then place it on the shelf as a backup to my existing K.H. Booster on my Fury. (My present drum brake system is working just fine) I am told that when you have to replace the Brake B...

Cruise-in, Somerset, Kentucky July 2020
The popular Somernights Cruise-in just had it's first Cruise-in this year. The Somernights Cruise-in is a one-weekend a month destination for vintage vehicles owners here in Sought-Central Kentucky. The Somernights Cruise-in has been happening every fourth weekend each month (April-Oct) for the past...
