Re: What's she worth?
Thanks for pointing out my mistake. I'm not the best at using proper car terminology. I was thinking "hardtop" = "not convertible". Obviously that's not right!

Re: What's she worth?
Sorry for not giving the engine specs! It's the 8 cylinder 318 three speed. It is indeed a nice car except for the engine rebuild. The engine was rebuilt not long before we got the car, but I'm not sure the valves were seated quite right. If that was the case, then overheating would be a death knell...

What's she worth?
Hello everyone. Long time since I've checked in here. We've had a very busy year. Sadly, for lots of reasons Phil and I are going to have to sell our "Geraldine", a 1959 Plymouth Fury sedan. I'm wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark estimate of what she might be worth. We paid $4200...

Re: Question about front door locks...
Hallelujah!! I went in with the hammer and screwdriver and gave the clip a few good taps from inside the door and it finally slid over! I got the lock out of the passenger side now, and I'll do the driver side tomorrow once I get the door panel off. Thanks so much for all the help and the great phot...

Re: Question about front door locks...
Yeah, I don't think I'll need to order new door locks. The local guy I found spent a couple of hours with me the other day trying every tool in his box to pry these clips off to no avail and he didn't charge me a dime. He also made a copy of my current key for free (and he has plenty of blanks to ma...

Re: Question about front door locks...
Thanks for all the help, you guys. The visuals are great. I've got the door panel off on the passenger side and have had a good look at that lock. The bracket is a little bent, and I suspect that this is not helping me slide the thing over. I'm also having a hard time getting a good enough purchase ...

Re: Question about front door locks...
I took my car to the locksmith, and he can change the pins in the lock so my ignition and doors match, but we're having one problem. We can't seem to get the lock cylinders out of the car doors. It seems there is a little clip that needs to be pulled so the locks can be removed, but we spent all aft...

Re: Question about front door locks...
Well apparently I've got three different locks. The ignition key doesn't work on my doors.

Re: Question about front door locks...
Bob, thanks for the info... it's good to know my door is working properly (even if it would be more convenient once I get keys to be able to lock the door and shut it). John Q, I'm hoping to see the locksmith early next week. Unfortunately I'm looking at perhaps having all of my locks changed. It ap...

Question about front door locks...
I'm wondering how the front door locks are supposed to work. I can lock them when I'm inside the vehicle (have rolled down the window and tried the handles--they both lock), but if I step out and push the handle forward then close the door, the door unlocks itself. I don't actually have a key for th...

Re: Heater control valve
Well, the answer to that question would be because I am low on mechanical knowledge (although I'm eager to learn more), but the real reason I'm not quite so interested in rebuilding it myself is because time is money and I'm shorter on time than on money at the moment. Also, this car is a daily driv...

Heater control valve
Apparently I've got a bad heater control valve, and I'm looking for the best place to find one. Do I need to find one specifically for the '59 Fury, or can I use one from any '59 Plymouth? Any information on what exactly to look for (so I don't buy the wrong part by mistake) would be helpful. Thanks...

First-time classic car owner checking in
Yep, I'm the sucker who bought the lovely jewel discussed here . My husband Phil and I live in southern Colorado. We are very proud of our lovely acquisition, but we will likely be needing help fixing a few things. I wonder if anyone knows a good "old car mechanic" in the Pueblo area. We b...
