Cruised over to Mountain Home last weekend to check out the vintage scrap yard I'd heard so much about. www.jimsvintageautomotive.com (The site doesn't do the place justice). There were a fair number of forward look cars, mostly Desoto & Chrysler, but they did have a '59 Fury 2dr hardtop. He sai...

Yeah, the '62 transmission is the way to go. I have one lined up for the likely hood that I end up with a more modern engine. RB would be my first choice, but I have all winter to see what I can come across. Lots of advantages to this kind of upgrade. Parts, unleaded gas, and you don't get that eye ...

Looks to be in pretty good shape. Also looks like a 2-bbl manifold. If it had power brakes you should see the vacuum line to the manifold.

The points, condenser, plugs and wires are new. The tank was drained when it was brought in buy the towing co, to keep it salvageable, so the gas is fresh. The fuel filter is new, and it's getting plenty of fuel. I have not done a compression test, however, I am getting blowback through the carb. It...

It seems to me any decent upholstery shop could make a piece that glues on. However there is the question of the little metal clips riveted to the dash. Are these being removed, or do the pads they make have the metal band to fit the clips/slots?

Ah thrills of owning an old car that can only be experienced. I could write a book on all the unintended adventures I've gone on due to things like ruptured wheels cylinders, broken axle clips and grenading spider gears. As long as the car survives (and the organics encased inside), these minor setb...

When I got the Bel, it ran, but when you tried to accelerate, it would stutter, and try really hard to die. My first thought was accelerator pump, so I put a kit in it, to no avail. So I adjusted, and played with timing and tinkered and swore, and have finally come to the conclusion I have burnt or ...

Looks like rust is a bigger issue then I originally thought. I decided to sand sand and reprimer the front (as it hadn't been completed the first time), and discovered why it was primer. Both front fenders have been reformed over the headlights. The more I work on it, the more it becomes clear, that...

Must be a relatively dry area for the rust to be so minimal after that much moisture retaining compost sitting on/in it for so long.

I'm curious to see what it looks like cleaned off.

I also noticed it has the two hole brake canister, I'm curious as to the difference.

She is pretty car. As mine is also black, it gives me some idea of what mine could look like, eventually. Inspiring. I've had the same problem with pictures, having to log in before I can see them. The exception being those that are linked using HTML. As this is how I've posted mine, I'm not sure ho...

Rust

There is rust, but nothing major, a dime sized hole on the drivers side floor, one slightly bigger on the passenger side. The rockers show rust, but its minor and repairable. I haven't gotten the trunk open, but I have had the back seat out. What was visible from the back seat was in good shape, but...

Dash Pad & Brake Vacuum

I have two questions. First, this car appears to have come with a padded dash (see pic). Does this piece just clip on? What does the framework look like (I seen pictures of the actual pad). Is this a piece I may be able to find and restore, or will I need to look at fabricating something, or possibl...

Swap Meet

The swap meet was cold and windy, but not what you would call a loss. I picked up 3 '57 wheel-covers for $10 (one is dinged), to match my 3 '59's. At least they are much closer then whatever those things I have on the passenger side are. I also came across two leads for swivel seats. One of which le...
