Jeffrey writes, "This project is
on the back burner for a 1958 De Soto that I’ve had in the
works since 1989 – it has seniority. I’m pretty sure
the car started out as a 1959 Plymouth Belevedere 2 door sedan in
brown and tan (body
and
roof,
respectively)
and aluminum side trim. The car has a 318 wide-block which I believe
to be original. I got this car from a friend (he actually purchased
it for me, hoping I’d want it) because it was a 2 door sedan
(I had thoughts of making a highway car out of it, with a modern
V-8 – that
has now changed) and was extremely solid and complete. There is some
surface rust, but other than normal dings from parking lots over
the years -- and a cracked windshield -- the body is amazingly straight
and
rust free. It even has the clear steering wheel – even though
this needs to be repaired." |
