I got back from the 400 mile trip yesterday. She is rusty but I found one place who has all the pans.. Sheen needs them all but I feel it is worth saving.

I have a metal guy not to far from here so I guess I will be putting him to work soon. Has a small block poly motor that is all there except for the breather. I do not know much about these cars yet but I am reading everyday. I did think it was cool that it had a 4v carb on that old motor. I will get some pics today and post up the project.. It will take sometime buy she will ride again one day.

Glad you got her home safely. She'll keep you busy for a bit, but many worse have been restored. For inspiration here's some pics of what I started with and the completed product.

Chezz, that car is almost brand new, go to the forum "Show your ride" and look at the restorations done by John Fowlie, John Quinn and myself and others. Multi page picture description of the frame off restorations, all done by AHEM, older men. Now quit whining, roll up your sleeves, get dirty and save that sucker. I only said whining in case your were.
Dick.

Thanks.. Yea not whining at all. I love the car.. It is weird I have had about 300 cars in the past 25 years.. This is the only one I am actually attracted to and it needs the most work.. Well I was into vw beetles for a while.. about 50 of them and they all lose their floor pans.. So doing those will help me with this one.. Do they only sell the pan parts in pieces or can you buy a complete side? I guess the best thing to do on the lower 1/4 is to find a 4 door car and do some surgery... I am not a metal fabricator at all but can do some of the normal stuff..

Only pieces no complete sides. We have a member "John Fowlie" that has a salvage yard in California. He may have parts you will need, he sent you pictures of the disaster convertible he brought back to new. Strange, I found a 4 dr. parts car to help me with my restorations and about thirty years ago I was into VW's big time. I was doing frame off restoration but didn't know that was what I was doing. The only thing I had to help me was the Book "HOW TO RESTORE VW'S FOR STUPID PEOPLE". I even converted one into a stake body pickup truck. Oh I just remembered there is a complete floor pan on ebay right now. I will look it up and attach the link. $400.00 not a bad price. Will save a lot of grief.
Dick.
