Replacing Windsheild

Man., what a disappointment. Finished up my dash., painting, installed it...went to put the original windshield back in and ...CRRRRAAACK...right at the end of my installation. So now no windshield....The new rubber winshield gasket I think was too thick., too big or something., cause I tried several times to put it in and was just too tight...so now what?

Have to find another windshield..and either have one installed or???

Any one know where to get new windshields for a '59 sport fury?

Thanks., G

If you order one make sure they pack it properly and upon arrival you open package or crate and inspect the windshield for breakage, if broken do not sign any papers and inform your supplier. In 2010 I ordered one from the Pilkington Group at: http://www7.buyerpricer.com/landing.asp ... ram3=&vx=0
The part # is DW00453 but confirm the number.

Oh, by the way, I had a auto glass installation company install the glass.
Just sayin,

I'm a ways from installing the windshield in my '59, but some years ago I tried using the two-piece aftermarket gaskets on my '57, and found they were not even close. Your best bet is to find an original, used one that is still pliable. I just replaced the windshield in my '57 with a brand new windshield I had bought from Southern States glass in Virginia, I believe the price was $250. Not sure if they carry ones for the '59's, though.
