My best friend is gone...

Post by Faulkner »

...and there's a hole in my heart, the size of a '59 Plymouth. The family in town for the reunion finally left yesterday, and last night I cried my eyes out.

Bereft today. It will get better, I know; and I will be back here.

Just, not right now.

Dan - I'm so sorry, I know it's a great loss, I have lost many of my best friends over the years and it't not easy. I have three best friends now and dread the day. Fill that hole in your hear of memories of Bailey.

So sorry to hear this, Dan. Losing a beloved pet is akin to losing a member of the family.

One of my own dogs is fifteen years old or better, and I'm sure I'll feel the same way when the time comes.

I just found this post. I am so sorry for your loss, Dan. Thank you for sharing Bailey's last good days with us, swimming with you in the pool and all.
When we let another being into our heart, we know that with that comes the possibilty that they will pass on before we do.
Shakespeare's "tis better to have loved and lost...", written nearly 400 years ago.
Kind words from friends may help, but only the passing of time will soothe your soul. We all saw you were a perfect pair. You made his life special. Be proud of the good times you shared. He only wanted you to be happy, so don't grieve for too long.

Dan,

So sorry for your loss. i knew it was expected, but did not know it would be so soon. Most of us have felt your pain but I know that does not ease your pain. I know that as I feel the pain of the loss of my best friend of 16 years (Bentley) as I write ths e-mail through tears and his death was in 1998. It's not that I am wimp - its just he was our only family/child at that time. Tears and grieving are always allowed.

Dan, what can you say about a wonderful pup like Bailey. I am glad I got to play and interact with him while staying with you for Carlisle. He was loved by all who came in contact with him. Seven is way to young to be taken from you so early.

Part of Bailey spirit will be with your next Beagle that you will love as much as you do the Bailey meister!
