Hi, my name is Neil & I have just joined your site. I discovered your website today and have been looking for a classic car for years. But have settled on a few different makes/models over the years until I started looking closer at the Chrysler group.And I think the Plymouth Sport Fury (or Belvedere) is for me! Just a few questions tho, I assume the Belvedere is top of the range & the Fury is obviously the sports model. although I notice there are 2 & 4 dr Belvederes & convertibles. Perhaps someone could give me a model lesson. there is a '57 Belvedere 4 dr H/top for sale over here for $19,500 AUD It's in another state so no visuals apart from magazine photo. looks very straight, white with a gold? strip. has the V on front fender so I assume V8, 318? Will ring the seller tomorrow for more info but need a little info so I can ask the right questions. Your cars are all works of art and you must all be very proud of them & the hours of grit and guts you've all put into them. I'm probably going to be better off buying something that's had most of the hard work done as I work away in the mines & still have 4 children at home! but who knows eh? Regards Neil.

I can tell you a bit about that particular '57 Plymouth, as I owned it previously. The body is as rustfree as they come, as are the floors and trunk. The paint on the car is presentable, although there are nicks and dings that have been touched up. The engine runs well, and the transmission goes right into gear, but I only had it on the road for a short time. The brakes definitely needed attention when I had sold it.

All the 4-door hardtop glass was in good shape, and the car needed mainly TLC and nothing major. Here is a picture of it from last summer at our local car show.

Nice to hear from you. We here on the 1959 sport Fury site are mainly focused on the 1959 model car.
In 1959, Plymouth offered the following:
1) Savoy...the base model
2) Belvedere...the mid-line offering...these sold the most.
3) Fury...the upscale version of Belvedere.
4) Sport Fury...more options, these came in 2 door hardtop and convertible versions only
Station wagons followed roughly the same pattern.
If you research the current pricing on 1957, 1958 and 1959 Plymouths, I expect you will find '57s and '58's demand higher prices than '59's
The big excitement surrounding the 57-8s stems from the Steven King novel-turned-movie wherein a '58 Plymouth was "born evil" and killed all who didnt respect it.
This site won't provide you the information you want/need on the '57s and '58s. For that, you might want to look at www.forwardlook.net, and search their contents.
If you decide that your interest lies in the '59s, may I be so bold as to say we are always here to help and advise!

Too bad you are way down under. I have a nice 59 Sport Fury that I'm thinking of selling. I inherited it from my husband and it has only been out of the garage 3 times in the last 4 years. This June there is a Plymouth Owners Club Meet in Clackamas, OR. Tom Fox willl be there with his '59 Belv cvt, and reportedly at least three other '59 Plymouth owners (including me) are hoping to make it there. This might be a good place to advertise your car for sale.
The Meet is June 16-19, 2010 at the Monarch Hotel.

Roger - Please advise us on how you would acquire "white knuckles" from driving a beautiful car such as yours (other than the "constant control" steering we were blessed with )

Shoot! June 16th eh??? My car will not be ready.

I did get the Drivers floor welded in last weekend but will move to the passenger side this weekend. But I will be in Hawaii for 5 days (work, not play) but my wife says she will come on this business trip. The I get back and take off for San Jose, California for 8 days (vacation this time) So the next 3 weeks is messed up for me in getting ready for the trips and doing the trips to work on the Belvedere.

But I will be back on the 8th of June to get back to work on the convert! Roger you are welcome to pit stop here if need be. Don't know what route you are taking to get to Oklahoma, Oaklahome City is 12 hours from Denver as a point of reference.

Thanks for the info on the Plymouth owners meet in Clackamas. As much as I would like to be there, I think the drive over the mountains would be a bit too much for me and I know I could not deal with the traffic over there. I live in a 1 stop light town. If you run into anyone there that need another 59 Sport Fury please let them know about mine. Thanks, Linda
