I thought you might have known Rick since you know the seller of these wings for a long time. I will be getting them re-plated in a month so get your mirror ready that you need replated and I will get my mirrors and door garnish moldings together to have them all done in one fell swoop.

I hate sad endings, especially to any 59 Plymouth and further to a SF convert! But at least these wings will live on, soon to be mounted on my Belvy! :D

RICKYMOPAR wrote:John, I am sure I remember the 59 Sport Fury convertible the 'wings 'came from. A story in it's self and sad as well.

Let us know the story if you would, Rick. Sure sounds interesting!

Okay, About twenty years ago a couple of guys from the mid west, accompanied by one of our local Chrysler Hobbiest; bring this red 59 Sport Fury convertible to Colorado. Using my relationship and name, they talked My friend into storing the car and trailer on his newly aquired ranchette. They stripped most of the exclusive parts and dumped what was left from the trailer and left the remains. Needless to say the low rents didn't pay any storage. I found this out later.. nor did they have legal claim to this SF. At this point I severed my relationship with the local that assisted in the strange dealings. This is what ruins our hobby for me. The Cliff - notes version.

(gasp!) Feeling just a tiny part of that would ever haunt me. Was there ever a police investigation?

Yes, Nothing was really done being it was just an old car! The remains couldn't be titled.

Ouch! Sad story indeed! We all know what a 59 SF Convert can and does for in todays dollars. It is a shame it ended up that way. I take it the shell was scrapped out? What a shame that a neat car was stripped out and left for junking by a bunch of crooks!

I kinda hope that the wings I have are not part of that story... I will let these wings live on installed on my convert if they are from this car!

Correct-a-mungo Mr. Koch! I guess I and all of us who used other 59 Plymouth parts on our cars are just the avant garde of the Nations Green recycling efforts!

You are half right John, it is not just the Nation but it is spreading all over the globe! I can't count the re-used parts I imported to help myself and others. We are the ones who really care for the planet and make it a warmer place to live by burning a little fuel every now and then. Sorry Mr. Koch but all the other like it a little warmer 8)

Denver could have used some Global warming over the weekend with sub freezing temps and snow furries! Yech!

The cold called off the last Golden Cruise (at least the official one...) if it is nice in November we will be out in force!

Matthew Go Pro is pretty nice! I hope he forgets it when he leaves...

This camera will come in handy when we go out for some cruises in the near future. The once a month Golden cruise is coming up on July 5th and this weekend my car club is doing a cruise to 8 local Sonic drive in's. Should be fun!
