John Q. - I'm not quite sure what you said but I took the hood support bow out to paint it and under it. I plan to use insulation and reinstall the hood support boy on top of the insulation. I have an extra hood support bow if you want it. It'll only cost you the freight and a nights lodging whenever I get to Arvida.

Thanks Dick, but I am fine with my un-bowed hood, Depending on what stampling plant that hood was built at, meant you had the support bar or not on your hood.

What I meant is that I see some 59 owners who have this bar just overlay insulation of the anti-oil canning bar and you took the time to make it all fit nice and neat.

It was a compliment you old wonderful , beautiful codger!!!!! :P

Here's some more pictures from the old, wonderful, beautiful, codger. UGH. Codger, yes. The rest is up for debate. Anywho, got to some bits and pieces. The motor mounts you see are for the Belvie. Convt. Glad I decided to remove paint and sandblast the splash pan, it was loaded with rust.

Now where in Florida can you get that much sand? HMMMM. I would just lay them on the beach and let the tide take care of the paint removal.... In second thought your way might be better!

Great work Dick! Keep the pictures coming!

Mo Pitchuhs, Sandblasted splash pan and valence, sprayed same and doors with epoxy primer, reqlued dynamat which had fallen to bottom of door. Tackled the most daunting task so far but not really to bad if done while watching Fox News, and thats masking the hubcaps to paint the trizillion little black squars on each one.

I love it all, except for the choice of news station! Is there no longer any un-biased news out there? Maybe the Guardian? But then this is an automobile forum (and sometime Weather Channel.) :)

I Like Sesame Steet news! Now that is fair and balanced! Just some numbers to learn everday and some letters too! And they teach you how to share and get along too! (especially during recess. I miss having recesses...) :P

I trust Big Bird and Elmo any day!!

I also get some of my news from "Dick Koch Thoughts of the Day" service direct to my doorstep via Email. Now he is a straight shooter!

Dick, the wheel covers came out great! Though the taping and masking was probably time consuming. Tom Fox has done it with neat little vinly Black squares that you can have reproduced locally. He can send you one and you can go to Kinko's and have them scanned and reproduced there in Sunny Floida!

Thanks John - The first hub cap took some time until I fiqured out a system then each one took about 30 minutes to mask on average, the 1/8" blue tape I bought about 10 years ago and I was amazed the adhesive was still good. I had better do the set for the Convt. before it goes bad. Byron-Jackson is sponsoring a car show today and I'll be taking Greenie. You get free tickets to the Auction next weekend. I call it the field of dreams.

Damn, everytime I try to attach a picture I lose everything, I'll start over again and save draft.

I'M BAAAAACK. Finally got all the "stuff" out of the way, I'm sure you guys know what I mean. Just in case you don't "stuff" is anything that gets in the way of your restoration.

The molded windshield gasket I used pulled apart at the zipper, tried to super glue it but it looked like crap. Bought a new gasket from Andy Birnbaum, had my glass guy swap them out and it came out beautiful.

The plan was to install the doors and fenders, alight them, drill pilot holes the take them off the car for paint, but they aligned so nicely I decided to leave them on the car for paint. I will still drill the pilot holes (just in case). I still dread putting the door internals back in, it would have been much easier with the doors off. Next is 2K prime the doors, mask and then paint. Wish me luck.

The door and fender alignment came out better that the alignment on Greenie, heres some pitchuhs, what cha'll tink.
Dick.

FOR SOME REASON I CAN'T ADD THE PICTURES, I WILL SEND TO DAN, MAYBE HE CAN ADD THEM, THANKS, DAN.

Moving ahead, I decided to drill positioning holes in the doors and take them off for painting, I think?? Did a little painting on underside of trunk lid, hood and sport dect for practice, a lot better since using a tad more pressure and a slow reducer. I was able to send pictures this time if I did a preview after each picture. I intend to use insulation under hood and deck, I painted there with left over paint I had in the gun, it didn't quite cover it but there is plenty of primer.

Thanks John - But let's talk about you, I seem to remember you were restoring a car yourself but it seems to have dropped off the map, What's up with that. We need an update or at the very least and excuse.
