I simply followed your advice and visited the allpar site. I already did that before but I couldn’t find anything. Maybe I wasn’t persistent enough. Here is the page I found yesterday:

The A-488 is mentioned in the 4 line top down.

PS: Anyhow we know now that it’s called A-466 or A-488. It’s not likely that Chrysler built two different Torqueflites at that time. (Maybe A-466 is the Powerflite?)

just stumbled over this old post. You are right, it's the A-466 and I've got this information exactly from this allpar-site

I have just repaired 3 speed manual gearbox with overdrive (B&W).
I have that gearbox manual in Pdf form, if you are intrested I can mail it to you.
That includes also wirings for the function of automatic overdrive.
