Wish I could go but have long vacation trip planned. Does that mean there were 10,844 Chevy's.

One time i went to an end of season cruise night that had 1500 cars in attendance and saw a 59 Dodge there,no other 59 Plymouths other than mine and i also have a 59 Chev and i didnt see one of those either.
Actually, ive owned my Chev for 5 yrs now,my Plymouth for 2,and even tho ive seen the odd 59 Chev for sale at a flea market, and once i saw one at a cruise night, ive never seen another 59 Plymouth!

i have only seen one other 59 plynouth here in winnipeg, a 4 door that is two tone pink and black. there are a few 57.58's and 0ne 60 that i have see around.

we leave to go on thursday morning. its about a 7 hr drive. myself, dad, and Willy from willy's garage( willy is a newspaper columnist) are going for the entire 3 days of back to the fifties , hopefully if the weather holds out we will be looking at 11,000 cars.

Willy will be doing an article on the trip , similar to the article on our fury in the showcase, maybe dan will be able to post it for all that cant go this year.

Actually, If I was to own a Chevy it would be a 59. My wife and I moved to Miami, Fl. from New Orleans in 1961 in a 1959 Fiat 1100 (what a trip). We stayed at my best friends house and he had a brand new 59 Chevy 2dr HT. He loan me the car to go back to new orleans to get our furniture and appliances. I rented a U-Haul trailer and towed it back to Miami with that 59 Chevy. They are very rare in south Florida, you don't see them very often, however 55, 56, 57 & 58 are like rice down here, they are all over the place. I have the only 59 SF in the area except for Russ Housen in Ft. Lauderdale, he has a beautiful 59 Convertible. If I see ony other 59 SF they are from the west coast of Florida. I know of one 57 and one 58 Plymouths in the Ft. Lauderdale & Miami area.

I really don't have anything against GM cars, Most of (our gang) has cheby's. Two 56's, 3 58's, 1 54. They are always on my case about MOPARS so sometimes I get defensive. Actually my first car was a 41 Buick. I was 16 at the time, paid $80.00 for it and it was a 1/2 step above a parts car then. It was two tone rust, one truck tire on right rear, no shocks, absolutely no upholstery. But it ran good and the radio worked, I put 80 wt. gear oil in the lever shocks, after that it would corner like a Porche. Down the road I had a not sure of year Buick Wildcat, and a couple of Cadillacs 70 & 72. All good cars.

well, the show was great. the rumor floating around is that there were over 11,000 cars this year. the sad thing was that the furys were few and far far far away. i seen 2 - 1962's , 1 -1956, 1-1958, and 2 - 1957 belvedere's and that was it. lots of chevys and lots of Impala's( i have never seen that many ever)

most of the cars were mint condition and the promoters , the minnesota street rod association did a great job. next year hopefully there will be at least one 59 fury down there ( or up there if your from the south).

Bill called Richard Tetzlaff on saturday to see if he was at the show. he was but only as a spectator. he said his fury wasnt running as well as he wanted and for that reason he didnt register for the show.

all in all it was a great weekend.

I just got an email from Richard. He's sold his Fury! I'm trying to track down the new owner now.

Richard also says he has a lot of '59 parts for sale. Stay tuned!

Richard sent me a list of '59 Plymouth parts he has. He included the Mopar Part Number for each item, but there were no prices listed. Perhaps he has refined his list. I inquired about the " jack and handle", and "front bumper stone deflector", but received a reply only about the stone deflector (no, it wasnt the "air scoop"). He also has two engines, and a transmission..I think these parts are the remains of two parts cars he bought from a guy in Iowa back in 1995.

Richard told me he would get it for me -- but so far, no luck. He never was much for email... Do you have a phone number for him?
