My new to me 1959 Sport Fury!!!
Hello, I have been a member for years with Forward Look cars to varying degrees of restoration. My latest and likely last trade/purchase was a blessing in disguise. I had a very rusty 59 SF that was in the body shop for repairs. The body guy was dragging his feet for a year, but was finally going to get started heavy at the body shop when the shop caught on fire.......with my car in it. Long story short, after lots of prayer, the car was totaled and my insurance paid with no hassle. Still the chances of finding one that they didn't want a ridiculous amount for was slim. That is until I messaged friends Jim & Irene Hamsher to find out if they knew of one for sale that was reasonably priced. He told me he had one that was restored several years ago and the rest is history.
This is the most "restored" classic I've ever owned. Just needs a few things fixed or touched up, but they are tiny in comparison to what I'm used to. I'm also glad that, while it's in great condition, it's not perfect, so I won't be scared to drive it.

Hello from the Sin City!

Mark, lookin' good! Jim Hamsher is a straight-up guy. I remember when he brought "Audrey" (that's her name, right?!?) to Carlisle 2015 - pix here. I see she still has the sticker! I am sure you got a fair price.
I look the liberty of posting your Facebook pix here. Hope we hear more from you!

Absolutely! Now to get NCDMV to stop being difficult. I've never had an issue with any of my other cars, but they are wanting another inspection, to make sure it isn't a kit car!?! I wish parts were that easy to get.

Hi Mark, I got your message about the DMV giving you angina over the data plate being screwed on (mine is too, I think they all were). There may be a VIN tag on the driver's side pillar that's riveted on, did you check there?
In any event, I seem to recall that the VIN could be stamped on the chassis, but I can't find the conversation now. As I recall, its location could vary. I'll poke a couple folks and ask them to take a look at this thread. Stay tuned...

Mark contacted me about this earlier today.
He has an M293 and those were spot welded in place. I know the M296 plates were screwed in on the firewall next to the master cilinder.
I'll write him an email later as there is no VIN on the chassis but there are ways around it. Already told him

Mark - l was having trouble at a DMV that had a particular AH that gave me a hard time so l went to a different office and breezed right thru, give it a try.
Regarding the data being stamped on the frame l've done two frame offs and never found that to be true.

Still in process. They aren't budging and want an under body inspection. Hopefully next week I will have a little time to do it.

Wow you literally went from despair to greatness the only thing that would have made this story far more legendary is if it would have been a Dodge Phoenix that obtains new life by arising from the ashes ......... enjoy your ride you lucky dog.
