59 Fury progress-continued
Here's the 383 at the "rough-in" stage, before the A/C compressor and mounts were fully developed. Note the 61 vintage alternator, with its fewer ventilator slots. From a 61 New Yorker 413.

Looki'n Good, The freeze plugs in the end of the heads and the extra valve cover bolts were a give away.
Re: 59 Fury progress-continued
Yeah, I thought long and hard about how "original" I wanted the car to look before I started this project. The end result that I wanted to achieve was something close to what I would have done to it in 1967 if I had been able to afford it. Thus, the Magnum 500s, the subtly hot-rodded 383 and 727, along with a Sure Grip rear end, street hemi mufflers, and better brakes.I did leave the stock exhaust manifolds, partly because getting the driver's side Magnums to fit can be problematic.(Even with "C" body manifolds.)
I got the interior as close as possible, and I found a NOS Mopar dealer-added a/c unit that fits in the trunk. I think what I'm building here is a 59 Fury with the potential performance of a 68 Road Runner. (I compared the shipping weights, and the Fury is actually lighter) The time slips at the local drag strip will tell the tale, I guess. The first time I took the car down the quarter mile, I was 20 years old. Sigh. DC

Outstanding build! Best of both worlds with a 59 plymouth and the performance of a Road Runner!
