Roger;Let me put things into perspective;I would like to put the car close to original as it was, color interior, exterior paint, engine color,etc.etc.etc.The place that is doing the motor is very good but slow,I have a price for a stock build $1800.00-$2000.00,The rebuild kit is about half of that,a "crate" 318 is about $1600.00,However the motor would come from some other vehichle,I would like to keep what was in it to go back in it.I am not doing an extensive fame off,I can not afford it,just would like to give it the attention it needs, make it presentable, and have some fun with it.The car has been neglected, but has good "bones".I am completely capable of doing the build myself after the machining (I have done this before} but have other issues to address with the car.Once the machining is done {cylinder hone/bore,cam bearing install, heads with hardened seats[unleaded friendly] crank turned,it is not that much more for the shop to assemble because it is all there.I am not eccentricly fussy, and certainly did not hit the lottery, but in this hobby "some money is going to be spent".As I have said before I always appreciate any and all input.I love cars from the fifties,in fact I also have an unrestored 1955 Buick[runs like a top but did not when I got it.} I like original,or as they were, as opposed to tricked,it is just my taste. The schools in my area do not do the auto shop thing,I wish they did,it would keep them off the streets, and off computers which is what i'm doing now!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS FOR LISTENING Mark

Just a note: double-check your spelling of proper names before you post. I think you wish to direct your previous reply to "Rodger", a.k.a. Rodger and Gabby, not me, Roger.
This is "Roger", and I agree with you that your engine should be painted 1959 factory color.

Thought I'd share this with the forum. My cry for help in a previous posting was referred to. This is as far as I've got. For info I've cleaned the transmission and bell housing and leaving them with the metal finish - no paint. My engine (318) started out blue, I'm pleased with the result so far. Valve covers not yet fitted but are the same silver as the sump. Guy

Wow!! Looks great!!!!! I can see what mine will look like.Is the oil pan and valve covers the silver argent? I have alot of the engine area cleaned up and am going to paint that as well [black] after I re-do the suspension and steering components.I was also going to leave the tranny as is,got it all cleaned up and is getting rebuilt, has the usual, bad bands, clutches, shaft o rings[petrified].Thanks for the pic!!!!!!!!! p.s. I am still confused about a possible missing part that I think goes into the e-brake cable entrance, I was cleaning it up and a small tubular piece of rubber came out. THANKS MARK

I believe the picture out of the Parts Book is the one I sent you.
Yes, you are missing that threaded tube w/ nut, which can take up some slack in the cable sheathing.

Hi Mark - You may be able to find the parts you need at: Len Dawson Deception Pass Auto Parts. www.dpmotorparts.com. I needed a special bolt for my tranmission that broke off during the rebuild and he had it. In your picture above it's that bolt you see all by it's lonesome just above the long ridge, the tranny takes two of them. It's amazing the parts he has for our cars. You can do a part number search and have your answer immediatly.

Hi again- I studied Dick's reply for a while- I think he is saying there are two adjusters, one nestles (into a rubber sleeve,as I recall, but maybe just a rubber"stop"), part-way into the clamping tube protruding from the e-brake, and then there's one in-line, back up the cable a ways. The latter came as part of the factory cable. Have you contacted John Fowlie in California concerning these parts? He is reachable by phone and e-mail.
Unless things have changed, Len Dawson does not take phone calls or do e-mail. He DOES have an huge collection of NOS parts (I saw his warehouse here in Washington State).
Correct me if I'm wrong; Len requires you to send a SASE w/ Mopar part # needed-if he has it, he will mail you back a reply w/ price, if he DOESNT have it, he will not reply.
If you need the part number for this adjuster, let us know...we will look up the part number for you. (Somewhere on-line is the entire Parts Book , but I can't remember where to find it).
Sure, you could make the part...maybe try a threaded tube sold as a household lamp part? (although the diameter will be larger than the opening it's supposed to nestle into).
The Mopar Part # is NOT what you see on the Parts Book page.
Sometimes Len will take the time to look up the number for you, but don't count on it.

Mark - Just click on the address I gave you, the home page will come up, click on ENTER HERE, then click on Search our Inventory by part number, if you have the numbers enter them or you can give them the discription and they will help you out. When I'm ready to order I call them and place an order.

Mark - You need: 1406964, 1406975, 1406976. I checked Len Dawson site and he has the 1406964 at $5.00.
