Nice wagon! I take it that it is a 6 passenger style wagon. Matthew said that you can tell if the rear area has the external access panel to the spare tire that it is a 9 passenger, but could not remember if it was on the drives side or passenger side to look for it. We only see the drivers side in the pictures.
Matthew, which side should have the spare tire compartment on?

Re: 59's for sale on the internet
If i may speak for Matthew, if there, the access panel would be on the passenger side.
Although this wagon has an electric tailgate, this doesnt necessarily make it a 9 passenger.
And a spare tire access door doesnt necessarily make it a 9 passenger. As Matthew explained, one could be ordered for a 6-passenger car.
So, its unclear whether the wagon pictured is a 6 or a 9.
I noticed it has green Washington historical plates, like mine did.

Re: 59's for sale on the internet
Well, he isn't really WRONG. It is true, ALL 9-passenger wagons had access panels/doors.
But having an access panel is NOT proof-positive that its a 9 passenger wagon, because......
I think it was Matthew who said you could order an outside access door on any style wagon.
I'm off to bed.

Re: 59's for sale on the internet
me too, I must be tired too with making all these mistakes....I did not garner that it was optional on 6 passenger versions but std on 9 passenger.
I remember that my Parent's 59 plymouth wagon,4 door, 6 passenger, did not have the outside panel. did not know it was optional.

John, I may be totally utterly mistaken here. so I will turn the question over to Matthew:
Matthew, I took your post and ran with it, but allow me to ask this:
Was the access door/panel available on 6 passenger wagons? (I cannot find it listed in the Options booklet, and a Search of this site doesnt turn up anything)

I have had many '57-'59 Mopar wagons that were six passenger, and carried the access panel. No Rhyme or reason that I know of.rogerh wrote:John, I may be totally utterly mistaken here. so I will turn the question over to Matthew:

Re: 59's for sale on the internet
There's no arguing with empirical evidence! Thank you, John!
Looking thru the Options booklet, I see that a person could order a locking luggage compartment (LLC), the well area under the rear lid.
Having several wagons at your disposal, John, you are best qualified to solve this mystery.
I am assuming you have at least one 6-passenger and one 9-passenger version.
1) Do all of your wagons have that potential storage area for the tire in the passenger-side rear quarter?
2) Do all of your wagons have the inside removeable cover?
And for all to ponder: Would the ordering of a LLC require that the wagon have the external access door-panel?
(I don't see why a person couldn't climb into a 9-passenger wagon and remove the tire from its side storage).

According to Ross Roy, it was an option!
If you haven't browsed the Gallery lately, you should - Ron has been working his butt off to get his huge collection of ephemera on line, for all Plymouth enthusiasts to share. I can't believe how much work he's accomplished! Check it out: https://59plymouth.net/59gallery
