Roger I bought some shock absorbers a couple of years ago (from JC-Whitney). I was not satisfied with the suspension performance of these shocks. Anyhow, it is not the fault of JC-Whitney or Napa or any other Parts Shop, that the people just want what looks nice and shiny in the catalog and what’s c...

Sway Bar - How to install a sway bar
Dear All, A couple of month ago I found a sway bar for my SF and I’d like to mount it now. The problem is, that my SF never had an original bar so it doesn’t have the brackets on the frame. Can anybody of you who has an original sway bar send me a couple of pictures where I can take an exact measure...

Master Cylinder Upgrate
Hi Nighthawk, Wellcome to our bunch! :) AAJ-Brakes offers a modified master brake cylinder for the 59 Plymouth. It fits perfectly into the car and with a small modification you can also use the original brake light switch. http://www.aajbrakes.bravepages.com/comments.html Good luck! Stefan sportfury...

Sorry Dan, I only know the current that we use here in Europe. When I imported the Ply I had to change all 4 headlights to European standards. We use 55 Watt on low-beam and 60 Watt on high-beam. You have to add all low-beam and all high-beam separately and use a relay for each circuit. The relay mu...

Oil pan remove
Thanks Ed and Hans,
The pulley is in very good shape and I am afraid to mess it up. So I guess I’ll remove the radiator and the pulley than put a jack under the bolt of the crankshaft pulley. Of course after loosening the motor bolts.
I hope it works!

headlight switch
Hi Graig If you drive at night with all lights on it may occur, that the headlight switch heats up too much and the bimetal in the headlight switch interrupts the lights. This affects front- and taillights. Suddenly you drive “blind” and if you are lucky enough you don’t hit anything or anybody. Tha...

Oil Pan - remove
Folks, it sounds stupid but I set myself check matt. I tried to remove the oil pan because the gasket is leaking, but with the engine installed the oil pan won't slip out. The front cross member is in the way so the engine must be lifted a little. Problem - I don't find a safe place where I can plac...

Hi Dan, I still have some other repairs to do and therefore the PS-Unit is still in the car. If I can’t find an original seal I’ll buy the next smaller size of a new seal in the local shop and make a distance ring with a thread on the turning lathe. The seal is than placed in the distance ring and n...

Carpets
Hello Guy, I had the same question a couple of years ago. When my SF came from the US it had a red cut pile carpet. Later somebody told me that the original carpet must have been a black because the lower part of the door panels are black too. Also there was a lot of customizing done in these years ...

Hood Pad
Robert is right. I have a hood pad on my SF. It is glued to the inside of the hood and has 3 layers. The fist one is the glue, than comes a kind of dam wool or rock wool and the last layer is a kind of rubber pad. The whole hood pad is also supported by a hood strainer and the two sheet metal rectan...

Power Steering Seal
In the beginning it was only a few trop on to floor, than every year it became a little worse. Now I don’t have no chance anymore and the Fury is grounded. What is the problem? The seal on the bottom of the Power Steering unit is worn out and every morning there is a big puddle under the car. I have...

REAR CONTROL AMR STRUT
The “1959 Passenger Car Parts List” shows on page 17AA a “REAR AXLE CONTROL STRUT”. Well, my Fury never had this Strut but I’d like to know more about it and maybe I’ll build one. Where, and how is this Strut mounted? Does it avoid roiling of the axle or does it stabilize the rear axle from moving s...
