Re: Rob's 59 Belvedere
Hey all, got the transmission freed up. She is shifting nicely. Parking brake is back together. Seems to work. Won't know until all four tires are back on the ground. New brake an fuel lines coming this next week from Inline tube. POR 15 for tank lining also. Will put new front brakes back on today ...

Gas tank cleaning
Hey all, let me thank all again for all the advice for this new 59 owner. Ok, I just spent the last two hours shakin' my fuel tank around with two lenghts of chain and a padlock, which was attached to the one end. No key, too lazy to cut it off. First three times with acetone, then who knows how lon...

Re: Master cylinder Help!!!!
Oh yea, there was an O ring. And ofcourse, not in good shape. But I think it is there more as a retainer than to provide any other purpose. I think there is more than enough to hold it in there, especially seeing I could not get it out. I ended up putting the piston in drill press and slowly opened ...

Re: Master cylinder Help!!!!
Great, O ring eh. I was hoping for a raised lip of some sort in there, for a pressed type fit. Not an O ring. Cause ya know, I did not get a new one with the rebuilt MC I got. I will be heading over to my buddys shop with all the big mean tools to get that rod out. I'll post an update. Hopefully no ...

Re: Master cylinder Help!!!!
Thanks RickyMopar. It is a manual brake MC. I kinda thought BFI is what is needed. Raining this morning. Good day to clean out the gas tank and extract that darn rod out of that darn piston .

Master cylinder Help!!!!
Ok guys HELP!!! Bought a new MC. Have to reuse the brake push rod. Ok, how in the H#@ll do you get the push rod out of the piston. I read that if replaced, the piston is not servicable. New MC has the new boot and piston in it. Do I use brute force and ignorance to extract the rod from the piston, o...

Re: Rob's 59 Belvedere
Thanks all, and Ron yes, I am happy to have the 4 door sedan with flathead. I don't want muscle, I want an original car. When I first looked at it, the seller said he had a lot of calls, but when they discovered she was a 4 door Post car, not hardtop, they passed on it. My luck. Hey Jason, not sure ...

Re: mirrors for sale
I need a mirror for my 59 Belvedere. Missing the head. I just looked at the manuel section for all parts list for 59's and it listed two mirrors. 1772 447 and a 1773 071, which I think those might be. I would be interested in the single one for $70.
Thanks

Re: Gas tank removal
Good advice. I have a friend that owns a radiator shop. The car was undercoated and the tank is clean. You should see the fresh paint that was protected by the gas tank. I almost want to wax it up under there before putting the tank back in... Almost that is.. This liner product does not flake off o...

Rob's 59 Belvedere
Here she is, my 1959 Plymouth Belvedere. Stored last 30 years. Interior is awesome. A few tears on drivers back rest. Otherwise floors, dash, door panels like new. I would never have anticipated it cleaning up this well. It is running now, off remote tank. Car was undercoated and solid. It's a Michi...

Re: Gas tank removal
Thanks Dick, you can wiggle the blades about a half inch. I put some photos on Photo Bucket and will try to post in photo section. Try being operative word. I am going to get a few gallons of acetone and some hex nuts a chain whatever it takes to start cleaning that tank out.

Re: Gas tank removal
Thanks Dick, the tank is out and I have that wonderful odor of 30 year old gas about me. I guess I will look for someone to clean this out for me. I live south of Detroit, in Gibraltar, MI . I have the flat head six runnin on a small tank. Rebuilt the carb, and have a new fuel pump. I don't want any...

Gas tank removal
Howdy all. New member here and proud new owner of 59 Belvedere. She has been sitting for 30 years. I am trying to pull the gas tank, but the filler tube is stuck in the gas tank. Any suggestions? I don't want to mess it up. Should I spin it around, brute force and ignorance!!!! Thanks for the help. ...
