Re: Rear passenger hub
The majority of the '59's I have had here used studs, although I have seen them with bolts, too. I believe it had to do with whatever supplier was closest to the assembly plant in question.
'57 and '58 models I have only seen with lug bolts.

Re: Rear passenger hub
It may take a little searching, but you should still be able to change out the broken studs for RH thread replacements. These studs can be pressed out, and the new ones pressed in.

Re: Faulkner gets a Redo
Dan, looks like you spent a week in the woods in that pic! I hate scraping old undercoating off, if it's brittle not so bad, though. Just finished cleaning the undercoat from the floors of the '59 Desoto convert I'm working on, there were pop-riveted repair sections slathered with gooey roofing tar ...

Re: trunk mat
Plymouth mats were the same pattern from '57-'59, Dodge had their own version, as did the senior cars, Desoto, and Chrysler.

Re: Oil leaking out of Vent tube??
Another thing that can happen is the rocker cover can leak, and the rear corner will drip onto and run down the tube. This is generally an easy fix.

Re: brake, parking and turn signal lights
The turn signal and brake light wiring circuits were nearly the same on most domestic makes, '50's through the late seventies.

Re: Faulkner gets a Redo
I also prefer to drop the tanks with the rear of the car jacked up, then remove the filler tube. Some also have a clamp that must be removed, others the tube is held in by the o-ring alone. Best if the tank is emptied or nearly empty, as the o-ring neck is soldered into the tank body, and excessive ...

Re: George Laurie
I bought an NOS steering wheel for the '59 Desoto convertible I am working on, and asked if he still had the dome light lenses for '57-9 hardtops. He said he had them in stock. When I received the steering wheel, it was described perfectly, and he even threw in a set of the dome light lenses!!!! ---...
