Re: no pressure on power brakes
Thanks Ricky! I went on to adjust the brake shoes on all four wheels today and as far as I was able to test it in the garage, the brakes are back! As there was no effect at all before, brakes are working again now. Will do some extensive testing to make sure the brakes do what they are supposed to. ...

no pressure on power brakes
Hi guys, Last year, Matthew helped me out to install a new M/C on my 59SF with power brakes. Afterwards I got the brakes tested and everything worked just fine. Car had been sitting in the garage since and while we switched the idler arm a couple weeks ago, I realized a brake fluid leak on the front...

Re: Front upper ball joints
Hi guys, Thanks for all the help! I found several used sockets on Ebay, which are quite affordable (betw. 20-40$). However I'm still confused regarding the size, whether it's 1 15/16", 1 29/32" or 1 59/64". There are even auctions for the same sockets which state different sizes :? Th...

Re: Front upper ball joints
Hey Mark! Thanks a lot for the reply! Renting out a Chrysler fitting ball joint socket is quite difficult here in Germany - that's why I was asking for the measurements. Would a 1 59/64" socket fit? I found an older thread about that in the forum and it seems that it should be a size 1 15/16&qu...

Re: Front upper ball joints
Doesn't anybody have a few tips on what's important when changing the upper ball joints? I already got the new parts and would be thankful for some instructions...

Front upper ball joints
Hi guys, In a glance of spontaneous stupidity, I "overgreased" one of my front upper ball joints on my 59SF today and the rubber cone burst open (see picture). Well done, Eddie  Ok, now do I have any other option than to replace the one (or better both) upper ball joint? I foun...

Oil dipstick TUBE
Hey guys, I already posted it in another thread: my oil dipstick tube broke off recently. Matthew Keij wanted to hook me up with his spare one but that one had an accident, too :) Well, probably somebody has one lying around - would be greatly appreciated! Or any other adivce? I already contacted Jo...

Re: Think with your dipstick......
Thanks for the explanation, Roger! Matthew will try to hook me up with a spare dipstick tube and then I'm going to fix it. Should be doable

Re: Think with your dipstick......
Hey guys, I'm glad I found a thread, where somebody already had the same problem before. My oil dipstick tube broke off a couple of weeks ago (I haven't been able to take care of the matter since then). So it broke off right above where it comes out of the block. I now stuffed it with a pice of wood...

Re: Convertibles that survived
Hey Matthew, I just saw this thread. The picture of the convertible you found on the internet (license plate ROW-F 2) is actually my car. The picture was taken back in the 90s by some guy who saw our car on a motor show in Hamburg. So I can assure you there's just one SF Convertible in Germany :mrgr...

Re: Engine running uneasy
As you said...an easy fix. With the higher revolutiuon speed and after adjusting the vacuum hose the engine now runs almost as smoothly as ever. I'm excited... :D We drove the whole afternoon and it was totally fine. So thanks to all of you for your help and advice. I appreciate that. @ Matthew: Is ...

Re: Engine running uneasy
Thank you Dan! I'll check that, too. We just checked the vacuum hose from the distributor to the carb and it was not really tight - it wasn't loose though but I guess it might have been the cause for the uneasy running. We also increased the revolution speed by about half a turn. I started the engin...

Re: Engine running uneasy
Thanks Matthew and Roger. Well, let's see what happens today. I talked to the mechanic yesterday and he said he had worked with US classic cars previously so maybe he can fix the problem. I forgot to say that the oil lamp on the tachometer is flickering, too when the engine runs uneasy while standin...

Engine running uneasy
Hey guys, it's me again ;-) I wasn't able to log in the forum for a while and now I'm back with a question which might again be difficult to answer without looking at it. I had my car out for some rides this year and didn't have big problems (except I broke the trunk key but with new blanks from the...
